Attending Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Friday, November 27, 2015

After watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on television all my life, today I am going to get to see the parade in person!  How cool is that!?!?

Sunrise on Thanksgiving Day

Instead of fighting for a spot on the street, we had tickets for breakfast at The Waverly restaurant.  As part of the ticket, we had a blocked off portion of the street.  This meant we didn't have to stand out on the street for hours to get a spot, and it also meant only those with a ticket could be in this particular area.

Breakfast - super yummy!

It's almost time for the parade to start!

Here we go!

Big Bird

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Ronald McDonald

Kool-Aid!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Red Power Ranger

Seeing the parade in-person is quite interesting.  They time the parade out for commercials and performances for television, so there are periods in the parade with no acts coming by.

Colonel Sanders

Angry Birds

 Chris Daughtry

Thomas the Tank Engine

Jennifer Nettles

The Dough Boy!

Pat Benatar

Virginia

Elf on a Shelf

The Peanuts Gang

Snoopy and Woodstock

Mariah Carey

Santa Claus!!!

The restaurant we had breakfast at before the parade.

The parade crowd clears out in a fast, orderly fashion.

Seeing the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was such a neat experience!  What an amazing way to kickoff the Christmas season!
