Today we are taking a side trip to Blackfoot, Idaho to visit The Potato Museum! Blackfoot is known as the Potato Capital of the World.
Entrance to the museum
Some interesting potato products
Largest potato chip in the world
Tater Mitts to help you quickly peel a potato
The museum had a small kid's area with Mr. Potato Head figurines and a walkie talkie made out of Pringle cans. The walkie talkie did not work.
This animation near the exit was probably the best part of the museum. It's neat, little place but a basic museum. The videos did not work very well; the same part kept replaying, and I found it took very little time to browse through the museum. The potato products were interesting to learn about, though, and the staff was very friendly!
Museum of Clean in Pocatello, Idaho
We came across the Museum of Clean online and thought it would be interesting to visit. They have some neat exhibits. We were the ONLY people there during our visit, and, as a result, got a personal welcome from the friendly man working the desk. He gave us a detailed explanation of the museum and then we were off to explore. At one point, the man working the desk showed up and asked us to play a game. We didn't really want to but it's pretty much impossible to avoid when you are the only visitors. He gave us a book by museum founder, Don Aslett. The Museum of Clean is a neat place to visit but I would have enjoyed it more had we not been the only visitors. It just made for an awkward experience at times.
