We are heading to the Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar, California. Our reason for visiting is you can pay an extra fee (at the time of our visit, there is a separate fee for each animal) to meet and have your picture taken with certain animals.

They even have a place for you to adopt a pet rock before you leave!
The Wildlife Learning Center was a great little find. If you would like an alternative to the zoo where you can get close to the animals, I highly recommend this center.
