Hans Christian Andersen's Denmark

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Good morning, once again, from Billund, Denmark!  Today we will be leaving Legoland and making our way to Copenhagen.  Along the way, we will be stopping in Odense, which is known for being a home to Hans Christian Andersen.  Then, we will explore some ruins before arriving in Copenhagen!

I'm going to miss these Lego guys!

Places in Billund were given a special Lego set to sell due to the construction of the current Lego House in town.  Other than on Ebay and similar websites, Billund is the only place you can buy this set.

Now, we are on our way to Odense.

Arriving in Odense

We randomly ended up parking in a garage, and it turned out to be the neatest, most modern parking garage I have ever seen before!  Seriously.  It took a picture of our license plate as we came in, and that is how it knows which spot you are parked inside.  It also had lights designating which spots were available.  Seriously, it was just so nice and clean.  A big difference from normal parking garages.

Hans Christian Anderson Museum

A lock of Hans Christian Andersen's hari

The museum had a neat room housing translated copies of Andersen's stories from all over the world.

Antvorskov Slots Ruins.  The ruins are of a monastery.

Back on the road to Copenhagen

We stayed at the First Hotel Copenhagen.  I highly recommend!
