Icelandic Phallological Museum

Friday, July 15, 2016

We are heading to a very interesting museum today.  More about that in a minute.  Before we get started today, we stopped for lunch at Reykjavik Roadhouse.  This is a Texan-themed restaurant.

Chicken tenders and fries

Reykjavik Roadhouse was alright.  I loved the theming of the restaurant, and they played great music.  The chicken tenders were a little odd...they just weren't like chicken tenders that I am used to.  The fries were quite good.

Now, that we had some food in our system, we headed to our main stop of the day, the Icelandic Phallological Museum.  Yes, you read that correctly.

The museum was formed by the man pictured below, Sigurður Hjartarson.  He has had an interest in this collection ever since childhood.  There's a fascinating documentary about him and the museum called The Final Member.  He has since retired and his son now runs the museum.
