Visiting Vik's Black Sand Beach

Saturday, July 2, 2016

After our glacier adventure, we were starving.  There's not a whole lot of food options in Iceland outside of Reykjavik, especially if you do not eat seafood.  As we were driving, we came across a convenience store restaurant and decided to give it a try.

We ordered two chicken sandwiches with fries and a drink.  The total cost was around $26, evidence of Iceland's high cost.  The food was pretty terrible.  Neither of us finished even half of our plate.

Beautiful green landscapes.  The camera doesn't do it justice.

Reynisfjara, a beach, is known for its dangerous waves.  They are extremely strong and can, without warning, come up dangerously close on the beach.  Several people have lost their life due to this and it is strongly cautioned not to get near the waves.

I love visiting Vik and its Black Sand Beach.  The area was so peaceful and beautiful.  Highly recommend!
