Kerid is a volcanic crater lake in Iceland. It is located along the Golden Circle route. It is believed Kerid was a cone volcano. When it erupted, the magma was released. Afterward, the cone collapsed due to the weight.
There is a walking trail to go down to the lake.
You can also walk around the rim of the crater lake.
Supposedly there is a charge to visit the crater lake but there was no attendant during our visit.
Seeing Kerid was such a neat experience! I highly recommend going during an Iceland visit.
