Metro, the fake Icelandic McDonald's

Sunday, July 10, 2016

McDonald's left Iceland in October 2009.  Apparently, they left due to the high cost of importing some food products.  Someone wasn't too happy about McDonald's leaving, though, so they bought the former restaurants and reopened them as Metro.  Metro looks very similar to McDonald's on the outside, and they sell many of the "same" products as McDonald's.

Dining area - Metro's dining area was quite nice.

They had inspirational quotes written on the chalkboard above the counter.

There was so much overgrown vegetation here.  It was obvious they do not do a lot of upkeep outside.

The building

Seeing Metro was quite neat.  The food tasted pretty similar to McDonald's.  If you are looking for something interesting to see in the Reykjavik area, I would suggest at least stopping by to see Metro.
