Waterfalls, Sulfur Springs, and Caribou, Oh My!

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Today's post is a big mixture of adventure from Iceland.  First up is the Goðafoss Waterfall.  It is known for being one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.  When we arrived, the weather was quite cold and rainy.  Weather in Iceland is hard to predict and constantly changing.

On the road to our next stop!

Almost there!

Námafjall Hverir Entrance

Námafjall Hverir is a geothermal area, and to be honest, it looks like what I imagine Mars to probably look like as well!  As with geothermal areas in Iceland, the smell of sulfur is very strong.  The scenery is incredible!  The area has a trail to stick to for your safety.  I loved visiting this place!  It is just out of this world.

A spring

Our next stop was Dimmuborgir, Iceland.  It is located not far from the previous location mentioned. It is home to lava formations and has interesting caves and vegetation.  To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with this area.  If I had it to do over again, I would skip.

Before heading to our hotel, we stopped at the Hofn Hotel Restaurant, Osinn, for dinner.
