Munich is the last city on our trip.  We set out this morning to explore the city!

The Famous Glockenspiel!

The Fish Fountain

Munich Residenz

Munich Residenz is the former palace of Bavaria.  Much of the palace was destroyed during World War II but has been rebuilt.

Destruction after World War II

This section, pictured above, has just recently been repaired.

Prior to my visit, I had learned that the paintings in this hallway were cut out as Allied Forces near during World War II.  The footage I had seen obviously showed the cut lines when they were repaired.  I did not see this during my visit.  If you look closely, it does look as though the paintings were once cut but they seem to have been repaired more so than the footage showed.

The Cuvillies Theatre

Adolf Hitler's Munich Apartment

Hitler lived on the second floor of the building.  This is the building he lived in when his niece supposedly committed suicide there.  After the War, it was turned into a police station, which it remains today.  No visitors are allowed inside.  It is located at Prinzregentenplatz 16.

Back at Marienplatz, the famous Glockenspiel

Pizza Hut for lunch...yummy!

It was a great day exploring Munich.  Marienplatz was my favorite of the day.  The surrounding buildings are beautiful!  I'm excited to see more of the city tomorrow!
